Estelles yr 12 wallhanging

This is the HSC kid I have been helpings wallhanging, pity she didnt listen more..it turned out good for a 17 yr old with no experience and a man textile teacher..he was a woodworker, dont know how they expected him to help the textile girls..but anyway this is a project called friends..she with her parents and brother went to thailand and came back with a sarong to quilt...I showed her how to use the gammill and we put/she put spiral squares panto on it..everything that I think is relaxing they thought was hard ..like buttonholing around a washer to hold on sisha mirrors so they glued them on at the end..it had lots of crystals and other bling..well done Estelle..

Vic retreat with Hliary and Steph march 2010

Ok I have to start writing as I am getting confused uploading the same photo twice so sorry about that and I keep deleting the wrong one..so here we go..this is the wonderful retreat I went to with Hilary arnold and Steph Turner ..down at east gippsland VIC..where we did an Esther Aliu stenciling course..Oh I did enjoy the whole process..discovered I had a box load of the paints from a previous life..mind you I found them but haven't dabbled yet..the motel room/cabin was huge..had its own bathroom and kitchen..two bedrooms one a lovely american lady had with a double bed, I let steph have the bunk bed room and I moved a mattress onto the floor of the lounge room, you see I am in a really bad habit at home of sleeping with the TV on..must confess I dont like the dark..as it was very warm a mattress on the floor with a sheet was perfect..oh and I SNORE badly so I like my own space..I am also a diabetic and need to pee thru the night so i am a very restless soul to bunk in with..

this is the next group of rooms that dont have a bathroom and you need to go across the way to the amentities..not my idea of fun..

this is looking out at my car parked nice and close...I like that...its normally full of all my treasures..crap Raylene would say..lol

the last write up should be here..my car..lol

1st go stumpwork

1st go stumpwork at figtree hobbysew teacher rosemary I really enjoyed the lessons although I missed a few due to ill health..and bad weather NO way would I drive down the mountian in the fog..I recon its not worth risking ya life for a hobby...I was happy with the result it is a really relaxing and very slow craft..but the end results are wonderful..this is the one and only piece so far but the dragon fly and spider web have been used a few time..love little critters..must get this framed one day.cheers

outside my workshop

This is afternoon outside my workshop/studio/sewing room what ever you would like to call it, the brick wall is the loungeroom wall of my home, the fibro wall with the black Tudor style cover strips is my work room, so you can see how far I need to venture to get to work..not bad ay..where would you rather be..working at home is the best..although people do expect alot, after all you are there visible..only working at home..I often said if I worked in the city in an office like I used to you wouldn't expect me at tuckshop etc..get used to it I am not available..lol..the oak tree at the back of the house is from a seed at bankstown airport I believe it came out on the Endeavour with Joesph banks and was planted by the explorers..Bass and Flinders,so the old bloke who planted them told me..the one out the front was planted in 1955..

godden class in figtree

This was hand painted..traced from photocopy with lead pencil then painted with fabric paint on a crappy piece of calico, roughly wet the outer border then slapped paint on and threw rock salt onto it whilst it dried..very interseting affect...domestic machine quilted a little whilst at the class.oh boy I hate that..will fix it with the gammill..all in all I loved this class and the final pic..cheers Pat

bought the paints must do some soon before I forget..!!

Kims Japanese tissue box quilt

This quilt belongs to a lovely lady client of mine, she is new to quilting and is making some amazing stuff..she bought the backing for this quilt from a show and the vendor sold her 5.5 metres to back her quilt..which at that stage didnt have outer borders, because she didnt think she could do them..only thing was it was wide backing, she had enuff to back it twice and do the outer borders, make pillow cases and still bits left for her next quilt..I was angry to say the least that she had been ripped off..but doesnt matter it turned out to be a great quilt. My quilting buddy up the street is a fabulous piecer so i asked her to do the one inch red sashing and the outer border..then the quilt was squared up aswell..The other thing the client wanted was for me to miss the sashiko blocks..ever tried to do that in the middle of a panto..yeah right I had punters eyes by the end of it.,,thats one each way,but it was worth it she was very happy and I feel it turned out to be a beautiful quilt which now is big enuff for her bed, not the knees at TV time..cheers Pat
