waterfall workshop stack and slash quilts

Ok these are all the beautiful quilts the ladies produced..remember some of these ladies had never quilted/pieced before what a great effort...We had put many different kits together with a great selection of colours and fabrics....think everybody got something they liked they where $40 for the kit..which made about a lap sized quilt....

one lady bought all her own fat quarters black and white and made a quilt for her hubby for chrissy last year..i charged these people half price to quilt these quilts..thought that only fair as they did it in the class...and hers was a monster bigger than a queen size and she finished that top that day too i think( she was an experienced quilted but wanted to learn the technique)..my friend Rhonda wanted red black and white and hers was stunning..they are crisp clean colours..there was another smallish country colours quilt, some aboriginal prints some fresh yellows and blues and jenny bought her own funky colours and made mum a table cloth.

The cost for the class including lunch was $60..there was lovely salad rolls, ham and chicken, cheese and fruit platter, coffee and tea and many cakes laid on as well..so for a hundred dollar day i think it was great value.I am looking forward to many more workshops/weekends in Grafton.

waterfall workshop stack and slash

This is the workshop for stack and slash that we ran at the tennis courts at Waterfall.. it was a great day we started at about 9am had morning tea lunch and arvo tea and everyone completed a small lap sized quilt on the day..mind you they had a lot of help from a very experienced quilter..no not me a real piecer..I havent included her in the pictures or named her as i dont think she would like that..but i really appreciated her help on the day and without her the quilts would not have been finished...even the beginners who had never made a quilt before finished theres..next one will run in Grafton real soon.yippee

These pictures are of our retreat in Vickery retreat alexandra VIC last year..must find some more photos and put them in better ones of all the girlies..sorry Marlene think you just woke up and think Jenny was still asleep..what a great venue for the retreats..this one was called shoe box surprise where i put toghether a box full of stuff and you make it into a journal cover, wall hanging,or ipad cover..what a great weekend the the price was very reasonable.

sulphur crested cockie

This big bird I inherited from my MIL, pat had hand raised him and he is 37 yrs old. When she had a stroke 2 yrs ago Wayne bought him home whilst she was in hospital and rehab..the bloody thing used to hiss at me and I at it..we where very scared of each other. These birds love company and love to cuddle with you..took me a while to get used to him sitting on my shoulder and saying give us a kiss..and offering his beak to my lips..fair dinukum they are big buggers and he could take ya finger off with one crunch..or take ya neck out as he snuggles into it..lucky we like one another now..xx

Helens Quilt

I made this stack and slash for my cousin Helen after i heard she was doing it tuff health wise..I believe she is in re-hab at Westmede Hospital. all i need now is to get it to her..these quilts to me are great gifts they come together in just 3 days from cutting piecing and quilting then binding and done I love them.hope you do to cousie.xx
ps. the backing is polar fleece and it has wool wadding so will be very warm.xx
