outside my workshop

This is afternoon outside my workshop/studio/sewing room what ever you would like to call it, the brick wall is the loungeroom wall of my home, the fibro wall with the black Tudor style cover strips is my work room, so you can see how far I need to venture to get to work..not bad ay..where would you rather be..working at home is the best..although people do expect alot, after all you are there visible..only working at home..I often said if I worked in the city in an office like I used to you wouldn't expect me at tuckshop etc..get used to it I am not available..lol..the oak tree at the back of the house is from a seed at bankstown airport I believe it came out on the Endeavour with Joesph banks and was planted by the explorers..Bass and Flinders,so the old bloke who planted them told me..the one out the front was planted in 1955..

godden class in figtree

This was hand painted..traced from photocopy with lead pencil then painted with fabric paint on a crappy piece of calico, roughly wet the outer border then slapped paint on and threw rock salt onto it whilst it dried..very interseting affect...domestic machine quilted a little whilst at the class.oh boy I hate that..will fix it with the gammill..all in all I loved this class and the final pic..cheers Pat

bought the paints must do some soon before I forget..!!

Kims Japanese tissue box quilt

This quilt belongs to a lovely lady client of mine, she is new to quilting and is making some amazing stuff..she bought the backing for this quilt from a show and the vendor sold her 5.5 metres to back her quilt..which at that stage didnt have outer borders, because she didnt think she could do them..only thing was it was wide backing, she had enuff to back it twice and do the outer borders, make pillow cases and still bits left for her next quilt..I was angry to say the least that she had been ripped off..but doesnt matter it turned out to be a great quilt. My quilting buddy up the street is a fabulous piecer so i asked her to do the one inch red sashing and the outer border..then the quilt was squared up aswell..The other thing the client wanted was for me to miss the sashiko blocks..ever tried to do that in the middle of a panto..yeah right I had punters eyes by the end of it.,,thats one each way,but it was worth it she was very happy and I feel it turned out to be a beautiful quilt which now is big enuff for her bed, not the knees at TV time..cheers Pat

Challenge Quilt

FROLICKING FAT FAIRIES was created for APQ magazine for their Fantasy challenge in 2009..I had dyed the background fabric behind the fairies and could see them all just frolicking around in it,so I decided to make them in 3D..took me six months and it was my first go at doll making, I bought Patti Culea cloth doll making book and went from there..what a fascinating journey. The fairy with the maroon hair reminded me of a quilting friend from Qland so every night on the way past going to bed.. I would blow her hair out of her eyes and say nite nite Trishy..lol..I just think making dolls would be a great hobby(another one) to get into..groan from the family..haha..

THIS IS A REALLY CUTE POST CARD THAT ONE OF THE LONGARM QUILTERS FROM Tasmania MADE FOR ME IN A SWAP FROM OUR YAHOO GROUP..IT IS SO CUTE..sorry about caps I will master this new laptop one day..thanks Wendy for my Rudolph he is really cute..cheers Pat

japenese sampler

this is the back and middle block of the japanese sampler just finished..I hate custom quilting on clients quilts..have to save it for my own..recon I have lost some of my skills..they will recover with more machine time..cheers Pat

guild challenge

Dont read this till friday when the guild challenge closes will you..its the latest pic on my camera so I thought I would dump it before I lost it..the challenge wasn't called anything just had to use all the fabric on the front of the quilt..I made the flowers free standing and called the quilt over and under..so all the left over bits are under tulle..only because I hate raw edge stuff..got mirrors and crystals beaded binding and body of quilt made from left overs..had a bit of fun thats the main thing..due at the guild 27th August..geeze I think I am a week early..now thats not like me..cheers Pat

Japanese quilt

this is a clients quilt I am doing some custom work on its been a few months since I have done any custom work..my Sydney show quilt was the last thing I worked on..so June I think, recon you loose your skills without practice and I couldn't think what to put on it, did a nine patch quilted design between the star blocks..put the same little flower thats in the fabric..well similar anyway and some pebbles..I am enjoying myself but am distracted easily..give me a quick panto to bring in the dollars..lol..not sure I even like the design or the block but I put in a feather spine and started to feather but didnt think feathers where very japanese so just used the spine double with pebbles in centre and clam shelled the other side..in gold metalic thread..lots of bling..there is gold in the fabric.

must catch up after reading Belinda Betts new blog

This a a quilt I made which won first place in Sydney show 2009..didn't do any good this year..a bit disappointing first for 4yrs I didn't win a prize..oh well next year..like Belinda said she has many quilts wondering around the grey matter, as I do, got all the stuff I need also but lack the time to do them.
